STOP PRESS!!!!!
At the time of writing I have discovered a problem with the bottom end of the motor. While in the process of renewing the rear main seal, a main bearing was seen to be torn. This occurs when engines are stood idle for extended periods and started suddenly without the oil being up around the moving parts. So with all that said I have decided to renew the rod bearings also, along with a new front seal and gasket. The good thing about this, and believe me there is only one, is that it is better to find this now rather than later, perhaps when I'm doing sixty up the motorway when some serious and expensive damage could have been caused. Boy! Those bearings are heavy on the wallet.
I've had the car for two and half years and every time someone asks me when it will be finished, the answer is different. It is sad that I have to add to this story that on November 5th 1998 Rocky, the previous owner, lost his fight against illness and passed on. His memory will live on however within the Catfish. Although I never met him, I feel his presence and guidance whenever I'm working on the car.
